"Once you've seen a Matthews Home, you realize no other home compares in quality and finishing," says Janet (Mrs. Gary) Barrett of their Walden Pond brick and stucco transitional home. "Their detail work is more than you would ever expect. We knew our home would be wonderful, but it far exceeded our expectations."
"David and Debbie Alexander built a second home with Matthews Homes. "We lost out on the first one because our house in Phoenix didn't sell in time. When it did, we went right back to Dave Matthews to start on a second house," explained Debbie. "We knew they were ethical and that we were getting excellent value for our money."
Anne and Barry Mendelson, who had Matthews Homes build the retirement home of their dreams, can attest to the fact that Matthews Homes hand-select the highest quality employees and subs, and leave nothing to chance. "We traveled in our motor home for three months checking out areas where we might like to retire. We fell in love with the Charlotte area and then discovered Matthews Homes. We only made four trips to Charlotte (from New York); our home was built on a handshake and telephone calls," says Anne of their 4,000-square foot home with a view of Walden Pond. It has everything they wanted in a retirement home: a stand-alone, custom 2,400 square foot, fully equipped workshop/garage (which houses the motor home) for Barry, a retired physician. Anne has a gourmet kitchen in the house, complete with a six-burner Garland stove, as well as a custom-designed commercial kitchen built in a portion of the three-car garage. "We converted one bay into the kitchen, which has everything from a convection oven, proofer, smoker, salamander and soft service ice cream to a pizza oven, freezer and refrigerator," says Anne, who estimates she has over 450 cookbooks. "We are so happy with our home," agree the native New Yorkers. "We just can't say enough good things about Matthews Homes. They have certainly lived up to their reputation.
We wanted to take a moment to put in writing our feelings about your efforts in creating our dream home. It was such a pleasure dealing with you and your sons through out the whole building process.
Michael nor I had ever built a home before, but we had a good feeling about what to expect because of our construction and real estate backgrounds and discussions with you. But, our experience with you was so unlike the stories we heard from friends and family members that had built homes. You, Ty and Brett were always so easy to deal with and made us feel like our requests were very normal and logical, even if they were different from what we thought we wanted. We are particularly thrilled with how the columns and interior stains turned out.
I always tell people there is no such thing as building your dream house unless one has an unlimited budget, but I think we got our dream, on what really could be considered a modest budget for this area. We could not have done this without your guidance and support. Please keep a key to the house. We want you to feel free to show it to your prospective customers as an example of your work. I hope that you are as proud of it as we are.
